This is really going back in time: 46 Basic, Wellesbourne Mountford 1962. Still in touch with Dave Hart, Dave Coaker and Brian Richards (who’s not in the photo). We passed out in January 1963, a terrible winter you oldies will remember. Dave Hart transferred to the Army and ended up as an RE regimental sergeant major, Brian Richards lives in Perth and worked for National Geographic, Dave Coaker lives in Plymton, Plymouth and in his 80s now. I last heard of Terry Burgon living in Portugal. I know Shiela married a Cpl photog, John somebody on 16 Sqn at Laarbruch, but I don’t know what happened to rest of the course. Mike Speake

Came across the site by chance. I was wondering where you obtained the photographs. There are a few in there that I took, and wondered where you obtained them. Two you do not have names for, I know I took them but for the life of me I cannot put names to the faces. Also in one of the shots of a group from Germany I recognised one of the guys. Interesting though. I’m sure there are some photos of ex RAF photographers I have where I can remember the names!

My Dad is Peter Croydon. He graduated from the RAF School of Photography in 1941, I think. He was 17. He graduated with 100 percent mark, which I think was quite unusual. He apparently was entitled to be given a higher rank, but because he was so young, it didn’t happen. Does anyone have any photos, memories of him? Many thanks. Monika Croydon
Thanks, Chris. I’ve sent Dad a message, asking him if he can recall any details that might help – group numbers, other peoples’ names, etc. At 93, his memory is still remarkable, so he will likely come up with something!
Cheers,
Monika

I was a Nat Serv photographer, went to Wellesbourne in 1957, then to Wittering. I still have a few pics from then.
I recently sent a picture for the ‘People’ section but there seem to be no new photographs appearing. By the way does anyone remember Chris Munson? He was a legend on 2 or 4 MFPU at Gutersloh in the 60’s.
Any shots of 543Sqdn at Wyton?
Hi Don, Sadly I don’t have any shots of 543 Sqn at Wyton, if you come across any I’ll display them here
Regards
Kris
When were you on 543? I served Jan 63 to Nov 64

Hi Monika,
I’ve put your request out to the RAF Photographers if any one has any photographs I am sure they will be in touch.
Kind regards
Chris
