Gordon Agnew

For those that knew Gordon Agnew, some very sad news, I’m afraid…

This from Shona, Gordons daughter:
As some of you maybe aware my dad passed away Saturday suddenly
I have just had the medical report and he passed away with metastatic lung cancer. And asked if my dad had worked anywhere with asbestos. Just reaching out to any past colleague’s or friend’s who maybe aware of anywhere that could of caused this
Thank you

I have asked to be kept informed of any funeral arrangements!

I have now heard back from Shona who says,
Unfortunately, dad insisted on having a unattended cremation…
He has always said, ‘You’re bloody deed. Waste of bloody money’.
And us much as I want to celebrate the dry witted amazing, kind and genuine man he was, I am not in the position to take it out of his hands…

Obviously, we have to respect both Gordon’s and Shona’s wishes on this.

Nick Collins RIP Gordon.

That is so very sad, Gordon was my SNCO as with many in the Big J, a great chap to have in charge of the shift. During a an early morning clean up after a long night shift I rested my head on a roll of kimwipe and was asleep immediately. he let me sleep for 20 mins then woke me with a cuppa and sent me to the crew room to wake up. He went with me to the Hypnotherapist and when I came around from my therapy there he was snoozing away. RIP Gordon you were a goodun.

This really is sad news. Gordon was a great bloke, not just a damn good boss. He wrote my first 6442 at JARIC which was brilliant. But he also apologised profusely that the numbers did not match the narrative, as his hands were tied due to a certain WO dictating those numbers for everybody. Gordon was a very honest and honourable man. My deepest condolences to all of his family.

  2. I’ll always fondly remember my time working with Gordon at Oakington. His quick wit, fun loving nature and the epic stories he’d tell me. Always a great fella to work with and was so happy to have known him.
